Frozen Biscuits

  • 2 c. unsifted self rising flour
  • 1 c. buttermilk or sweet milk
  • 1/2 c. shortening or lard

Mix shortening and flour together with your fingers or pastry blender. Add milk, will be a sticky dough. Place on lightly floured board; handle gently until firm enough to roll out 1/2 inch thick. Cut out biscuits. Place on cookie sheet and freeze 1 to 2 hours.

When frozen, remove and place in plastic bag. When ready to cook, remove the amount of biscuits needed and place on pan in COLD oven. Do not preheat oven. Turn oven to 450 degrees and bake.

Biscuits will be ready in 15 to 20 minutes. This recipe makes about 20 regular size biscuits.
